What does it involve?
An introduction to the origin of canyoning as a sport in Trentino around Lago di Ledro and Lago di Garda.
Canyoning basically consists in descending mountain torrents that along their courses disappear into the body of the mountain, creating unique hidden landscapes of polished rock, waterfalls, and pools of crystal clear water.
For these descents you need the assistance of certified Alpine Guides, who will provide all the necessary equipment and ensure your safety throughout the excursion, right from the information and booking phase all the way to the return journey to the canyoning centre. If you do not have the necessary technique and experience in this activity it can be extremely dangerous, and is also prohibited.
The canyons around Lago di Garda and Valle di Ledro are ideal for this activity because they offer outstanding geology and landscape. The descents are incredibly exciting with sequences of jumps, slides, acrobatic manoeuvres, and rope abseils. You can be 100% sure not to be bored.

A SHORT HISTORY OF CANYONING IN TRENTINO
As an outdoor activity canyoning probably started in France in the late 1980s. People enjoyed it enormously and it attracted an ever growing number of enthusiasts, soon arriving in Italy.
Local Alpine Guides began offering this activity professionally, accompanying groups and providing all the necessary safety equipment for the many tourists who pass the broiling hot summer holiday months in Trentino near Lago di Ledro and Lago di Garda.
The result was an explosive success! People began to realise that the canyons surrounding Lago di Garda and in particular Valle di Ledro are absolutely gorgeous and offer an unforgettable adventure. Word soon got around the camp sites and hotels and suddenly everyone wanted to try this unique experience.
Today the canyons are just as beautiful as they were in those early summers of the 1990s. We have been operating every summer as the Valle di Ledro Guiding Group with our canyoning centre and lots of enthusiasm. Come and visit us in Valle di Ledro, Pieve di Ledro, Via Nuova 7.
