Alpine Guides have the complicated task of leading more or less expert climbers in the mountains, while also knowing how to combine the choice of a good route, preferably not too busy, the right difficulty, together with a great view, perhaps with some particular points of interest, and then get everybody home safe and sound.
Anything else that happens along the way is an extra bonus.
Being accompanied by an Alpine Guide, even if just as a way of getting yourself and your equipment to the top of a mountain, is always an opportunity to learn some essential aspects of mountaineering. This might mean finding your way up a mountain face, how to descend, or how to assess times and fatigue of group members, things that on a course, perhaps with a more formal approach, do not occur simply because one basic ingredient is missing: immediate necessity.
Some come to us with very clear ideas and direct requests for what they want to do, typical longstanding dreams and aspirations. Others instead have good intentions without precise objectives.

Basically, getting you to the summit! It is true that we have to be able to give up if things start going wrong. But we try to maintain the principle of “NO SUMMIT NO PARTY” to keep everyone happy!
During the ascent we encourage you to get involved in the decision making process and any changes in plan. This offers important insights that only a Guide or expert climber can give.
